61, was welcomed into her savior's arms on May 16, 2006. She die of pancreatic cancer at Hospice of the Valley's Sherman Home, Phoenix, AZ. Marlene was born in Minneapolis, MN on October 16, 1944. Much of her youth was spent with a group of girls called the MEJJEJS. The group took its name from the first initial of the 7 women friends. She attended St. Cloud State where she met her future husband, Bryan Bergman. On September 12, 1964 they were married. ln 1965 Chad Eric was born and in 1968. Gretchen Mia was born. When the family moved to the Buffalo, MN area in 1976, Marlene became an active member of the Buffalo Covenant Church as a Sunday school teacher, church decorator, coordinator of the 20s and 30s group and member of the handbell choir. She was also an active volunteer in the community, serving as the Buffalo High school dance line advisor, cheerleading advisor, Miss Buffalo Days coordinator. and eventually assuming responsibilities with the Minneapolis Aquatennial committee. In addition to her volunteer service, Marlene was a businesswoman. She started an aerobics studio, Fannee's in shape, and was also the co-founder of a sample food industry, sample Fare. ln the early 1990's she began modeling in the greater Minneapolis area. Her credits include print, commercial and runway. When she and Bryan moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 2000, she continued modeling as well as began working in retail. She quickly became a top seller in women's clothing at Chico's and Draper's & Damon's. In all her endeavors, she had the wonderful ability to help people feel good about themselves. Create a vibrant community that people wanted to participate in, and make people laugh. In addition to her husband of 42 years. Bryan Bergman, she is survived by her two children, Chad Eric Bergman of Chicago, IL and Gretchen Bergman Wieseler of Buffalo, MN, and her sister Elaine Condon of Brentwood, California. she was preceded in death by her mother, Juliette Berggren nelson, and her father, Bertal P. nelson. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 11:30 A.M. at Buffalo Covenant Church, Buffalo, Minnesota. Pastor Carl Taylor will be presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Concordia Language Villages, memo: The Marlene Bergman Endowed scholarship (901 8th St. S., Moorehead, MN 56562) for children to attend the Swedish Language Village; or Hospice of the Valley- Sherman Home (5801 E. You were such a good friend, Marlene, all through school and all the years after.  You were generous and kind and you were always ready to have a good time!  We lost you way too soon and I miss you.  It would have been such fun to be able to talk with you about our upcoming 50th class reunion!
